This pair of sterling silver post earrings has been with me almost from the beginning of my work in silver. I wanted to offer something for cat lovers that were playful and small. This design worked in many ways! Now I also have my fat cat silver post earrings for lovers of longer haired felines. Both designs can be found on my sterling cat studs page.
Cats have been adored from at least the time of the early Egyptians. In fact, these people worshiped their cats, cutting their hair when a cat died and mummifying the cat's remains, sometimes mummifying some rodents to keep them well fed.
Only big cats can roar. The bigger the cat, the bigger the roar. But just the little guys, for the most part, can purr. That's a special ability our little friends have, and as far as I have discovered, no one as yet has figured out with certainty how they do it! (Of the larger cats that are able to purr, they are forced to stop and catch their breath instead of making a continuous purring sound.) I didn't even realize that big cats could purr.
My sterling silver short haired cat post earrings would be perfect for a cat owner or lover who wants to be just a bit conservative concerning their affection. Not everyone wants to be known as a "cat lady'!
