Sterling Silver Giraffe Pendant
Giraffes luckily do not have a lot of enemies. They are able to defend themselves quite well, at any rate. They've been known to kill a lion with deadly accuracy using their hooves. I tell you, we vegetarians can be pretty tough when we have to be.
Giraffes are born with horns, rather unusual among ruminants. Both males and females have these horns, although the ones of the male giraffes are bigger. It's said the horns are used when the males battle.
There are different races of giraffes, the reticulated giraffe and the Masai giraffe, which each have a different pattern to the spots.
Male and female giraffes have different eating habits. The males reach up as high as they can when they forage, and the females bend over the vegetation a little with their heads looking down to feed. This is an adaptation so there's no competition for the food.
The males don't feed for as long as the females, only 43% of the time while with the ladies they're eating more like 55% of their time. I'd like to know who studies this level of giraffe minutia!
My sterling silver giraffe pendant is here for you to admire and decide if it's just one of those things you Have to Have!
