Pewter Veterinary Technician Caduceus Lapel Pin
This piece is a pewter veterinary technician lapel pin. It uses the veterinary caduceus symbol but if you look closely it has both the letter "V' for "veterinary' and a "T' for "technician'.
I thought I better have a design that could be worn proudly by vet techs and I ended up creating several different pieces. So, this is one of them.
About a year and a half ago, I visited Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald at the clinic where he works, Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He was kind enough to let me observe what went on in the emergency clinic there for a couple of days. I met quite a few of the veterinary technicians there and got a glimpse into how hard they work, how dedicated they are to the animals and the pet owners and how much technical skill they have. They certainly do a lot more than fetch and hand things to veterinarians!
So, it feels good to be offering some pieces for them that I hope call some attention to the value of what a veterinary technician does and perhaps raise the reality of people who bring in their pets that there is another key component there in a veterinary clinic that is vital to the health of their animals and sometimes is a life saving component.
This is the larger of my two pewter vet tech caduceus lapel pins.
