Pewter Greyhound Necklace
To me, this design is especially handsome in the pewter. It may be because some greyhounds have a grayish or bluish cast, but it really reminds me of the breed. I think it would be recognizable by most greyhound devotees.
I have heard some interesting stories of newly adopted greyhounds having to learn how to negotiate steps, learn to live with other, smaller pets and just become part of family life. It must really be culture shock to come from a kennel environment into the home of a family that dotes on you. It seems they would have to be given some time to adjust to such a major change.
Another thing I've heard is that since they are trained to chase small animals (even though the one at the track is a mechanical one) that they have to be watched around cats and other small animals, at least for a while. That makes sense.
But after a hard life as a professional canine athlete, they certainly deserve such a retirement. And I for one am really happy there is such a strong movement to save these animals. The greyhound "parents' I've met have told me that they are so worth adopting and helping through the adjustment period, and that they make wonderful, sweet pets.
Please enjoy this offering from me, and let me know how you like my pewter greyhound necklace. I
