Treat Yourself to a Gold Pendant

Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to hang a beautiful gold pendant around your neck? I don’t know if it’s because of the long and rich history of the metal, the sheer gorgeousness of the gleam, or the feeling of elegance that creates this feeling. Maybe it’s all three!

What I especially like about casting my work in gold is the fact of their whimsicalness. I think most people associate gold jewelry with being “serious.” I love upsetting that applecart by making fun, even funny pieces in gold.

Take this 14K gold monkey pendant, for instance. Here he is, dangling from his tail with a mischievous expression like he just got away with stealing your last banana! Yet he appears in gold finery. Do you laugh? Do you ooh and ahh? This is what I mean.

Here’s another example. This fluffy gold cat pendant is one-of-a-kind. He seems to be staring off to the left in feigned innocence, rather typical of the cat. Makes you wonder where he left that last hair ball or dead mouse. Yet, he’s so elegant!

There is so much gold jewelry that has an austere, if lovely beauty. I think it’s time to shake that up with a little humor. Goodness knows there’s enough seriousness in the world today.

Probably one of my all-time-favorite designs is this gold resting raven pendant. I decided to sit him on a branch, partly because the idea of a gold branch with leaves was so appealing. Also, I was curious as to how much detail I could create. It’s a bit larger than some of my other pendants, which allowed for a lot of texturing.

For pure whimsy, it’s hard to beat this adorable 14K gold bunny pendant. I know “they” say you shouldn’t toot your own horn, but all I did was make a bunny look like a bunny. And bunny rabbits are terribly cute! I think of this more as a tribute to that fact than anything else. Another one in this genre is the gold guinea pig. They have a similar look, but the guinea pig is obviously a guinea pig.

Living in Florida, I have especial affection for the sea mammals close by. This sweet gold manatee pendant was created from those feelings. You can probably tell this just by looking at him! Of course, I also have a gold dolphin, which is a wonderful, sleek design especially pretty in this metal.

Do you know (or are you) an especially deserving herp lover? This delicate gold bearded dragon pendant would make a wonderful gift. Of course I also have a gold turtle, gold frog and a gold chameleon to round things out.

Because I have so many choices in the 14K gold pendants, I’m completely confident in your ability to choose just the right one!
