The Beauty of 14K Gold Charms
It was an exciting day the first time one of my designs was cast in gold. To have all my hand-crafted designs miraculously converted to precious metal was an indescribable thrill! Some of my favorites are the rich-looking gold charms. Now I have as many choices in 14K gold as I do in the sterling silver versions.
A pretty gold paw print charm is one of the most beautiful, in my eyes. Of course, I’ve always loved the symbology of this design. This simple print of a dog or cat (even though their actual prints are noticeably different from each other) is a lovely way to acknowledge your affection.
For years I’ve been grateful for the popularity of my numerous sterling silver charms, but whenever a customer asks for one in gold, I’m particularly gratified. For one, the charms are individually cast, and there is a little thrill the first time I hold a newly finished one in my hands. “Hey Ed, look how beautifully this one turned out!” I say, holding it to him with my open palm. But I say this every time, because they’re all beautiful.
Not too long ago I redesigned my gold English horse head charm. There’s something majestic about a horse in dressage, which is probably why this particular charm rates number one with me. I also love the facing horse charm, which adds a touch of whimsy. For a little more dramatic horse charm, you might enjoy the Quarter horse charm.
One of the earliest gold charms ever cast in The Magic Zoo was this perky gold dachshund charm. Dachshunds have been part of my line since the very beginning, way back when everything was made in polymer clay, so this seemed only fitting. Besides, do you realize how many dachshund lovers there are in this world? This is one popular little fellow.
For a relatively inexpensive way to represent a canine on your charm bracelet, how about a pretty gold dog bone charm? Polished to a sunny gleam, this is a simple and elegant way to express your love of whatever breed or mixed breed you do love! It is also a rather dainty charm, so will fit in well amongst any other charms you may own.
Of course no charm collection would be complete without at least one delicate 14K gold butterfly charm. This lovely insect seems to be flying, wings outstretched. This is an inspiring bug! One of my dreamy pleasures, sitting at my studio workspace, is staring out at my lush backyard in the spring. I can usually spot two or three different types winging their way across the expanse of blooming bushes.
But the truth is that I’m inspired by most animals, no matter the number of legs or outer “garment.” I can get just as excited about a funny little armadillo lumbering his way and snorting along a park trail as I can a bald eagle, soaring across an azure sky. When you are an animal geek, it’s hard not to be entertained every time you step out the door!
