Magic Zoo Customer Dr. Barron Hall in the NewsI read two interesting articles recently written by Nissar Hoath, Staff Reporter for the Gulf News published in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This reporter said that a veterinary surgeon was specially flown there from the United States to perform surgery on a young male jaguar suffering from severe tooth infection. It turned out to be Dr. Barron Hall from Ohio, someone who has ordered veterinary jewelry and several custom jewelry pieces from me over the years!
Dr Hall removed three teeth both left upper and lower canine teeth and the second left premolar. One of the big canine teeth was badly infected. The other two teeth were diseased. "At least five more teeth need to be removed, which include the other two canine teeth," he said, adding the big cat can live without the canine teeth as he is not in the wild. Dr Hall said it was his first overseas dental surgery and the first on a Jaguar.
"The jaguar is doing very well and has started eating. Currently he is on antibiotics and painkillers. The recovery has been excellent and remarkable. The jaguar is likely to fully recover within 14 days, and within two months he will be back to normal," he said. As a child growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio I don’t believe I ever imagined I would become a veterinarian or even that I would be creating veterinary jewelry but I knew animals would play some important part in my life. Dr. Hall (who, by the way, received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) nearby at Ohio State University) has adventures that are the sorts of animal tales I used to dream about in my childhood.
