I just read a rabbit reproduction fact that I found kind of interesting. It stated that rabbits that live in the northern hemisphere produce larger litters than their southern relatives. Why would that be? Well, it seems that because northern rabbits have a shorter breeding season they have to get on the ball and make all those babies quicker. Even the gestation of rabbits in the north is shorter so they can get the "show on the road' so to speak.
Rabbits in the southern areas have an advantage by having longer pregnancies because the babies are born more developed and can fend for themselves earlier. Amazing stuff! Sometimes I remember a line from the first Jurassic Park movie that really is applicable. One of the characters said quite often that "Life will find a way' or something close to that.
Rabbits as a group range from being very gregarious to being more of a loner, as in the eastern cottontail in North America. It's true, I've never seen rabbit warrens with their system of tunnels and lots and lots of rabbits sharing it.
If you don't own a pair of sterling silver rabbit earrings, I'm giving you a chance to change that now!
