About Our Sterling Silver Bird Pendants

I wear several different sterling silver bird pendants (not all at the same time) that I’ve designed. Although I’ve never had a pet bird, I find them beautiful, interesting and wonderful. I can certainly see how they would be fantastic companions. For quite a while I subscribed to Bird Talk magazine just for all the wonderful photographs, which were inspirational to me as an artist. I also became an avid reader of the articles and learned more about the habits of pet birds than most  people who have never owned nor plan on owning one! Their physiology is so different from the mammal type that I gained even more respect for veterinarians who treat more than one species. The amount of data you have to know and be able to apply if you are a vet taking care of dogs, cats, exotics (including birds, reptiles and fish as well as exotic mammals) is mind boggling.  At least human doctors only have one body type to worry about. And I just have to worry about things like silver pendants depicting bugs! - or silver pendants in general. I started out creating beautiful bird pendants and earrings in a bright substance known as polymer clay over 25 years ago. My sterling silver bird pendants are a far cry from those early days (pre-Magic Zoo, by the way) but I always felt I had a special connection to the winged ones among us and could give them a personality in a piece of jewelry that seemed fitting.
