Wildlife is really all around us, even in the cities and small towns. All those creatures we have displaced by building still have to “make a living”, after all. I remember many years ago we were living in an apartment on the other side of Clearwater. I took the trash down to the big receptacle for the building and surprised a family group of raccoons sharing the dump with a couple of feral cats! I’m not sure which of us were the most startled! I do come across a possum in my compost pile once in a while, as well as a fat raccoon. The mystery to me is where do they stay during the daytime? It would be nice if all the endangered wildlife of the world were equally protected. I think that’s more a matter of education than anything. Once the Rhinos are all gone, where will the poachers get their horn? There’s a lot of short sightedness for you.
