Description:
I just learned a mouse thing I was unaware of; mice don’t hibernate! No wonder the poor little things are forced to move into our houses during the frigid winter weather. We should have a great feeling of satisfaction that we can keep them from starving to death. Actually, something tells me that mice would find something to eat even if they were marooned on the moon.

There are about 400 species of mice. Now that’s impressive! They look fairly similar to each other, at least the 30 or so types I’ve seen photographs of. Can’t really speak for the other 370.

The smallest mouse is the pygmy mouse of Africa, which is a relative of the house mouse. It’s only two inches long without the tail. Aww!

It’s funny how not too many people keep mice as pets, (I’ve been told that rats actually make better pets and I have designed a rat pin in sterling as well) but relatives of the mice like the kangaroo mouse or even the hamster are quite popular as pets. I think it’s just a matter of fads.

I’d wear this sterling silver mouse pin as a fun little Christmas mouse for the holidays, or I’d wear it just because animals of any kind seem to look good in sterling silver.  In fact, you can find some others at sterling silver small pet pins home.
