Description:
I’m not sure which breed I designed this pin from, but whichever it was, I thought it was rather an enchanting one. After all, there are so many breeds of sheep, I don’t know for sure if I could spot it even if I had photographs of them all.

Could it have been a variation of the Merino? This is a great looking sheep, made famous for its fine wool. They come from Spain, and have a white face and legs with, at least in this photograph, white wool as well. Whenever I read something about “fine wool” the question that looms foremost in my mind is “Does it itch?” I think wool is a wonderful thing, naturally waterproof and warm. But I’ve never owned anything wool that wasn’t at least a little itchy! Now maybe the Merino wool is the wool that has got this problem licked.

The very earliest British breed of sheep is the Leicester which was developed early in the 1700s. Many of the British breeds are now all over the planet, providing wool and sustenance to millions of people.

I hope you find my sterling silver sheep pin entertaining! This sterling silver pin would be a great gift for a weaver, a sheep owner, a veterinarian or anyone who loves sheep and lambs.  I do have other farm animal pins in silver, and anyone interested in a close relative of the sheep might want to inspect my silver goat pin.
