The goat pin in sterling silver would look great on a jacket, coat or cotton shirt. (It might be a little heavy for a silken garment.) |

Description: When I lived in northern California in the 90s, my daughter and I used to watch our neighbor’s miniature goats head-butting each other and generally having a grand time. Those little goats were the inspiration for this delightful little pin. Goats are closely related to sheep. The obvious visible difference is that their horns have a different shape that look the same in both sexes and also goats have a beard. Obviously on my current design of the goat, there are no horns. There will be some more goat jewelry in sterling silver coming before too long that will have the horns, so you can watch for that! In the meantime, horn lovers may want to look into my silver highland cow pin. Now there are some horns! Wild goats are a kind of brownish grey color that changes to fawn in the summer. They have a black line down their back. They have another stripe on their shoulders and lower part of their flanks. I’ve never seen a wild goat, but they sound very pretty and definitely wild looking. They can be found at altitudes as high as 13,500 feet, although some live at sea level. All around a pretty adaptable animal. I can understand how they took to being domesticated so easily. This pin would combine well with the goat earrings for a unique sterling silver goat jewelry set. For those shopping for someone else, explore my other farm animal silver pin gifts. I love to give my designs a lot of personality, but the job was made easier by the miniature goats that inspired this sterling silver goat pin. |
