Description: If you’d like the whole sterling silver dog jewelry set, pair this sweet pin with my long-haired dachshund earrings. That might be a fabulous gift for a doxie lover. Or check out my silver dog and cat combination and all of my other dog pin gifts in silver to find a gift to suit the fancy of any dog lover. The ideal long coat takes a while to grow. If the puppy has a full long coat as early as ten or twelve months, then it is probably not going to have the perfect adult coat, so “they” say. There’s also some moulting that goes on with this dog. Some of the dogs shed all of the feathering and a lot of the body hair all at the same time. It seems like that could be quite embarrassing for the poor thing! I mean, is this similar to the look a bird has after it’s been picking its feathers? I’ve never heard the word “moulting” used with anything other than a bird before. “Boy is she ignorant!” you’re probably saying to yourself right now, and you are 100% right. The advice my learned dachshund book gives about this situation is that you should groom the dog often during this time in order to hasten the growth of the new coat. That makes sense! Kind of like when I prune my rose bush. (That has been pretty rare of late.) This pin has quite a bit of silver. I personally prefer my pins with a little weight, but I wouldn’t suggest pinning this to silk or some other relatively thin fabric. This unique sterling silver long-haired dachshund pin would look fabulous on a jacket or coat. |
