Description: There’s a lot going on in this piece. The dog is obviously a sweetheart-gently allowing a little kitty to rest between his front legs. I’ve certainly known my share of dogs and cats who were best friends. They set a good example for us humans as far as tolerance goes! Yes, Poindexter the cat and Hoover the dog are having a regular chin-wag, as comfortable as can be. It wasn’t always that way. Let me explain. Poindexter the pussycat and Hoover the Golden retriever once thought they were sworn enemies. That’s what everyone told them! Well, not that specifically, not about themselves. Just about cats and dogs. It took a lot of barking and meowing back and forth, and at last Hoover invited Poindexter into the back yard for a drink of water. You see, the old lady that used to give Poindexter cat food and fresh water never came back to Florida, and this was the 2nd season he was living by himself on the streets. So a nice slurp of clean water even if it was from a giant dog bowl sounded good to him. He easily slipped under the fence by slinking along with his tummy on the dirt. The backyard where the dog spent his days was full of mango trees and blooming camellias. And so the friendship began to unfold.
