I started out creating quite a few sterling silver farm animal pin pendants. As time when on, I decided to make some of them into either a pin or a pendant, but not a combination of the two. This had to do with the size of the piece and the way it hung on a chain or sat on a jacket as a pin.
To make a long story short, I recently changed the whole body goat and the sheep into either a pin or a pendant, rather than the combo. However, the pig and the highland cow are still available as a pin pendant.
One thing I really miss living in even a small city like Clearwater is the sound and smell of farm animals. When I lived in the country I was surrounded by chickens, ducks, cattle, horses, donkeys and goats. It felt comfortable to me to be living near so many animals. Last fall I went with my daughter-in-law and grand daughter to the petting zoo in Tampa. It felt good to get down with the goats and pet their wiry coats and listen to them bleat, something I’d been missing.
I must admit I missed my chance here as when we bought this house there was an enormous pot bellied pig living in a fenced in spot in the backyard. They would have given him to us as part of the property in the sales contract but we preferred to sent him off to a farm animal zoo. I really couldn’t believe a pot bellied variety could be that big but it definitely was a very tame pig.
My only connection to farm animals now seems to be designing things like elegant sterling silver horse pin pendants and others at the sterling silver pin pendant home page - but I truly enjoy it! |
