Description: The Shih Tzu has some very distinguishing characteristics. His eyes are big, round and seem to be saying something in a way I can almost hear, even when I look at the picture in my book! That beautiful coat looks royal indeed, and my goodness what a tail! It is a true marvel how this little dog carries it proudly over the back like a feathered plume. His undercoat can be wavy which probably only adds to his charm. Even that black nose helps define a face full of something in between Yoda like wisdom and the cheekiness of a sprite. I think living with one of these characters must be an adventure indeed. Because the dog is gentle, the company of children is encouraged- but the child should be taught to treat this little one with a gentle hand. The males and females both only weigh between 8 and13 pounds and stand no more than 11 inches in height.
