Description: These dogs have a most splendid coat, all three color variations as smooth as satin. One reference states that the yellow lab is more popular as a game dog than the black dog. Is it just easier to see for the sportsman? This statement isn’t expanded upon so there’s no way of knowing for sure what it means. I just read how the labs are trained to detect drugs. The trainers use balls, which makes sense. What dog doesn’t enjoy a nice ball game? Anyway, narcotics are placed in some of the balls and they have to identify these apart from the others. Later they have to find a ball containing drugs after it’s been hidden somewhere, usually in some luggage. It takes a couple months of training for the dogs to be able to locate the illicit drugs. Training to discover some types of drugs takes longer than for other kinds. It’s said that every year they are able to sniff out I don’t know how many hundreds or thousands of pounds of drug caches. It’s nice to know the Labradors are out there helping in this fight against drugs. Good dog!
