Summary: You may not have seen a sterling silver bald eagle pin/pendant in this unique and beautiful position. Maybe he’s resting after a long flight!
My bald eagle pin pendant is of the back view, just to create something a little bit different. I think the pattern of their feathers is so beautiful that I wanted to do some extra work to show that. This pin pendant is 1 ¾” by ¾” in size.
Description: This is a bird of prey that I will always associate with the telephone pole in front of my house.
In 2006 I was returning home from a short excursion with my grand daughter when she asked me to sing a song about “the bird.” She was pointed up as high as her chubby little 2 year old arm could point.
I, of course was expecting a dove, or maybe one of the green parrots that sometimes pass loudly through our vicinity.
I was not prepared for the magnificent bald eagle that returned my startled look with one of unmatched arrogance. He (or she) was gorgeous. It was a surreal experience, and I would’ve stared at him indefinitely if I hadn’t suddenly been even more overcome by panic to find my husband Ed and the camera.
We got a shot eventually, although the big eagle soared down our street and back again first. And it was not a great photograph. The best picture is still recorded in my mind.
Since that experience I’ve wanted to make some bald eagle jewelry. And here it is almost a year later!
This bald eagle pin pendant balances perfectly when worn on a chain as a pendant, and is equally gorgeous as a brooch. Match it up with my flying sterling silver eagle earrings for something to wear proudly on the 4th of July or any time at all.
