Description: Let this pretty sterling silver pendant cavort on the end of a beautiful sterling silver chain, a personal testimonial to the beauty and power of this amazing sea mammal.
Dolphins appear to have their own language, much of it out of our range of hearing. It’s been determined that a calf separated from its mother will call to her, and that two adult dolphins that have been friends will also call back and forth to each other. The sounds that are audible to our ears have been variously described as whistles, quacks, creaks, wailings and other descriptive names. Most of these have been recorded by the use of underwater microphones.
When dolphins are afraid or injured, they cry out shrilly with fear and unease. Dolphins who have been captured make similar sounds to dolphins who have been injured. I’ve never heard the sounds that a dolphin make, but I have heard the song of some type of whale, and it was very haunting, indeed. I wonder what they think of our language, and how they would describe the sounds that come out of our mouths!
Dolphins are animals that we should cherish, and I hope my sterling silver dolphin pendant serves as a small reminder of these wonderful sea mammals. Another local inspired my friendly silver manatee pendant and my budding silver marine animal pendant gift selections.
