Description: It seemed like a fun challenge to make a horse that was actually looking straight at you. That is a pretty typical way we view horses, but I haven’t seen a lot of jewelry in that style. Another special design is the sterling horse hoofprint pendant, one of a variety at silver horse pendant home page. Horses have evolved from the first known one called Eohippus from millions of years ago (about 60 of those millions, in fact) to the beautiful modern horse of today. There are still some horses that seem reflective of an ancient breed. But the earliest one didn’t have that much in common with what we think of as a horse today. They were the size of a little dog and ate fruit and foliage. There are so many different types of horses, and one of them still exhibits the characteristics of the ancient ones. It’s called Przewalski’s horse, and it is quite rare today. It differs from the modern horse in that it has 66 chromosomes to the modern horse’s 64. They are also truly wild, and even in a zoo setting retain their aggressive nature. I certainly hope the breeding program underway to raise more of these fascinating equids is successful. They look really primitive in the shape of their faces and the way the mane grows. I would love to be able to observe a herd of these horses. So, how do you like the face on this sterling silver facing horse pendant? |
