Description: It was designed to be a part of an ensemble. But it is of course a nice little design to wear just as is. There are two different earrings that could be worn to accompany the pendant. I’m not a horsewoman, but I’ve learned a bit about the sport recently doing some research. I realize this is terribly basic information, but nonetheless for the person new to the subject it’s pretty interesting. The early saddle was nothing more than a thick piece of felt, really a saddle cloth that had two leather and felt cushions on top which were held together by leather straps. The cushions were stuffed with the hair of deer, and one each was put on each side of the spine. It kept the riders weight off the spine, and is the same principle used in the saddle today. This was used by the Scythians, an ancient Middle Eastern people. No date is given for when this saddle was being used, and it also is quite mysterious how such detailed information about it was brought to bear. Now of course there are saddles used for many different purposes, including the jumping saddle, the general purpose saddle, the side saddle and the racing saddle. I’m sure that all of them take into consideration the physiology of the human rider as well as that of the horse. I do hope my sterling silver English horse pendant can make a young girl happy!
