Sheep Small PendantOur Price: $29.00 Summary: I didn’t design my sterling silver sheep pendant to be overly cute, just an honest depiction of the sheep face as observed by me. |

Description: Sheep gestation is about 150 days, following an autumn mating. So the lambs are born in late winter or early spring. Soon after they’re born, the lambs follow the ewes around, “baaing” if they get lost or separated. Just a couple days after birth the little ones mouth and suck on a blade of grass, but don’t actually eat it for another 2 weeks. The babies are weaned after 6 weeks. In England there’s a belief that mutton produced from sheep that dine on snails in the field have a richer, better taste than sheep that only eat grass. Being vegetarian, it’s unlikely that the sheep have developed an appetite for escargot, but they probably ingest the snails by accident when grazing. Anyway, some people swear that snail-fed mutton is delicious. I would prefer the grass over the snail or the sheep, being a vegetarian as well! Have you ever shorn a sheep or watched them sheared? I think it looks like quite a project, but I imagine the sheep grow accustomed to the indignity of the ordeal. It’s better than ending up in someone’s soup pot! This sterling silver piece is not a large sheep pendant, but just the right size to be worn often by your favorite sheep lover.
