Goat Small PendantOur Price: $29.00 Summary: I designed this sterling silver goat pendant using a photo of a miniature goat as my model. I’m fond of this little breed of goat, and had several as scrappy little neighbors when I lived in the country in Northern California.Read More... |

Description: I just read that the domesticated goat has no problem going wild. It will reproduce easily, partly because it can stay healthy by eating just about any kind of plant material, including woody fiber that would be completely indigestible to any other animal but the goat! Heaven help the gardener who inadvertently lets a goat into his garden! All your cultivated plants, whether or not they are considered edible will become so in the goat’s presence. They can even eat greenery that would kill animals that don’t have the iron stomach of the goat, such as horses, cows and even sheep. They can even digest paper and linen! One reason why there are a fair number of barren ocean islands is because of the “mighty” goat. In days of yore when sailing ships kept goats aboard for milk and meat, the population of these animals increased during the voyage. (Well, I guess there wasn’t much else to do…) Sailors began to drop off the extra goats on the islands, which in short order had their plant life decimated by the intruders. In fact, island paradises were changed to barren land that only the goats found attractive. My question would be what did they eat once they ate it all? I think the miniature goat is pretty common now, especially on hobby farms and as animals that 4-H club members raise. This sterling silver goat pendant is fairly small, so would be a good choice for a young girl or for an adult who likes smaller pendants. On a different scale is this substantial silver pig pendant. He is part of my silver farm animal pendants collection. |
