Description: I had fun designing the entire body of the goat, and it was modeled after the adorable miniature goat. Besides being wonderful dairy animals, certain goats produce a wonderful “fur” known as mohair. This would be the Angora goat, and it was developed quite long ago, back in the BC era as opposed to the AD times. Mohair has similarities to wool, even at the chemical level. It is a finer material, however, and is quite silky to the touch. It’s still used for certain fine and lightweight clothing as well as good quality upholstery. Angora herds still exist in Europe, but there are more commercial hers now in the USA, South Africa and also Turkey. Here’s something I’d love to see; a special form of Angora goat that grow its hair until it reaches 2 feet in length! I can just see all the de-tangling and picking out weed seeds that must go on after it reaches that length. I doubt these goats are kept inside! Some of this information might have altered as my information source is from several years ago, but since goats are not anything new, I would imagine a lot of it holds true today. A sterling silver goat pendant looks smart on one of my sterling silver chains. See this for a goat head silver pendant and also explore all the sterling farm animal pendant designs if you like. |
