Description: Cows have pregnancies that are just about the same length as our own. (That’s the royal “our” for you gentlemen out there.) Most cow moms have just one calf, and once in a while they give birth to twins. Being a vegetarian, I don’t like to go into the various “cow products” that are popular, but I’m not above an occasional cheese enchilada or dollop of whipping cream on my pumpkin pie! Normally cows only produce milk when their calves are young. Some people extend this time period by showing the mother her calf (already I’m getting sad). Some herdsmen in Third World countries create an effigy of a calf to stimulate milk production. Of course it’s also stimulated by the act of milking itself. I had the fortune of meeting a gentle long horned cow at a trade show in Texas last year. I was amazed by how tractable this huge animal was. If you are a cow lover or just get a kick out of collecting bovine stuff, this sterling silver cow pendant would be a lot of fun to wear.
