Description: My sister is a great Shetland sheepdog lover, and I played doggie aunt to Hector for many years. Hector was a real character. He devoured salad the way other dogs went after a roast. He followed his “kitty sister” around with a worried expression on his little skinny face like a neurotic big brother. And he absolutely adored my sister. So I guess you can say that my sheltie design is in honor of Hector- who went on to another life a couple of years ago (i.e., he passed away, for those among us who think we only live once.) Shelties are a natural for protecting the home. They have even been used in the past as a baby sitter, which is a little hard to believe, but things may have been different then. It does require a lot of affection to be a happy and healthy canine. It’s very hard to imagine anyone having a Sheltie and not loving it to pieces. I think it would be almost impossible not to. Shelties are quite sensitive, but not at all shy. They will confront danger and at all costs are willing to protect their families. It also is quietly self assured, and has confidence that it can carry out whatever is required of it.
