Description: According to my customers who are real dachshund lovers- it captures the dachshund personality very well. I definitely consider that a complement! Interesting enough, the dachshund may really belong in the terrier group, not the hound group. The story goes that the English were unable to translate the name of the dog correctly and as a consequence, it was put in the wrong category of dogs. But it seems to look more a hound than a terrier, so that may just be an urban legend.  In 1873 the dachshund was given breed status in Great Britain, with the The English Dachshund Club forming in 1881. The first American Dachshund Club formed in 1895. I find it so interesting that dog clubs were already forming in the 19th century, while much of the population of the world were still struggling with poverty and war. Of course one could say that’s true today as well, but generally I think of modern people having a bit more time for such matters.
