Description: Emperor penguins look like little men in tails. A whole bunch of them together is almost unbearably adorable. I realize they are big birds and not what one usually thinks of in terms of being “adorable”, but they have just captured my heart. My daughter was so fond of penguins that it’s hard not to look at them without thinking of her and her stuffed penguin that her brother David helped her to name. (Waddle, very appropriately) I have one picture in my animal encyclopedia with about fifty little round white penguin chicks huddled together to stay warm. They look so cuddly, but I bet you couldn’t get within fifty feet of them. Those dads look pretty protective, too. Penguins are probably one of the more common animals to see in sterling silver, but I just had to create my own version. I’m so glad I did as it still makes me smile several years after it was conceived in my studio. I have worked in a few rarities like the sterling silver crow pendant - part of my silver bird pendant designs. This sterling silver penguin pendant is just sweet as it can be, and that’s not an expression I ever use! It just seemed to be so appropriate here. |
