Reptile Jewelry and Frog Jewelry, Too!
Fabulous shapes, wonderful colors, amazing habits – these are the inspiration for my reptile and frog silver, gold and enamel jewelry. I think that reptiles and amphibians are some of the most fantastic creatures on the earth, and since I was knee high to a salamander, I have been attracted to their arresting looks and ways. What more perfect model for a tantalizing pair of sterling silver earrings could there be than a chameleon? How wonderful to wear a bearded dragon charm! Read more...

Reptile jewelry is something I’ve always made and always will! There is such a profusion of shape and color – I find them irresistible as a design prospect!
Here’s a little reptilian lore: About three hundred and fifteen million years ago we had the first reptile sightings on the planet, (were there anyone here to see.) It’s thought that reptiles and amphibians both descended from the same amphibious ancestor.
There are two major branches of reptiles; the turtles and tortoises make up one major offshoot and the lizards, snakes and crocodilians make up the other. Neat information! I thought there were three major branches- in my mind the lizards and the snakes were in two vastly divergent categories. Just proves that shallow observation will not get you far amongst the scientific types.
Reptiles have a bad rep in many areas. Sure there are poisonous snakes and crocodiles that occasionally make a meal of a human or two, but by and large they are innocuous and preyed upon more by man than the other way around. They are eaten, used as leather and even used medicinally. (What! This must not be in my country.)
And then of course they are exploited for the pet industry-although many of the reptiles kept as pets are bred for that purpose.
Now, if you are a lizard, snake or turtle admirer like yours truly, you’ll want a Magic Zoo reptile pin or pair of earrings to show off you unusual interest. Don’t forget the reptile pendant, necklace or charm, either!
