Description: I didn’t realize this, but apparently wolves are the largest member of the canine family. They come in many different colors. I saw a solid black wolf in a zoo one time, and he was quite an impressive fellow. Most people think of wolves as being grey, so the sterling silver wolf jewelry seems to work well.
Wolves are really omnivores, eating everything from small mammals and fish to fruit. But they prefer to go after the big game, especially since hunting in packs is typical of this animal. Like most predators, wolves are valuable for culling out the weak and injured animals in a herd.
Wolves make great parents, creating a den where their litter (usually 5-7 pups) are born and spend their first few weeks. Once they’re able to leave the den, the whole pack takes an interest in them. In other words, it’s not just the parents who take care of the young ones. Other adults in the pack bring them food and even baby sit when the parents are off hunting.
I really get interested in the animals I choose to represent in my sterling silver line, and love to learn facts about them!
