Description: One of my reference books mentions that squirrel monkeys are “greenish” colored monkeys. Maybe they have that problem that the sloth has with algae growing on them. But I thought that just applied to those slow moving denizens of the rain forest. Why else would they be green, though? It’s odd that the author offers no further explanation. That’s when things get dangerous and I have to start making stuff up. Spider monkeys are usually pretty demure, but in the breeding season the males get all belligerent and even get fatter and more aggressive. I picture them with those sleeveless T-shirts holding cans of beer and making rude belching noises. No wonder the gals only put up with them to get pregnant and then relegate them to the outer limits of the troop. This lasts about 3 months, so I guess the ladies figure they can stand it for a little while. Also there are only a few males so the women can gossip about them and probably find that endlessly entertaining. Enough of that.
