Description: These are about as big an earring as I’ve ever made. But then again, rhinos are big animals! Sometimes I find it difficult to make a big animal into a little wildlife jewelry design. It doesn’t always work that way, but I have noticed a bit of a pattern there. The calf of the rhino, generally speaking nurses for about a year. I would imagine that rhino milk is some powerful milk to feed a baby tank like that. The baby also grazes in about a week just to supplement his nursing. At birth rhinos weigh about 50 pounds average. Even at birth you can see the place where the front horn will begin to grow in short order. In fact, it takes just 5 weeks for it to begin growing. I wonder if growing the horn is anything like teething for the baby rhinos! Rhinos have lived about 45 years in captivity. Not nearly so long as an elephant, but pretty long nonetheless. The main enemy of a rhino is man, who has managed to put rhinos high on the list of endangered animals. If you think you can handle a very large and very dramatic pair of sterling silver rhino earrings, you have most certainly come to the right web store. Some majestic silver elephant earrings could be of interest, too, and there is more to see at silver wildlife earring designs. |
