Description: I didn’t realize there were so many possums in the New World with so many varied habits. The one I created is our own Virginia possum, but if you were to venture south of the border, like way south of the border, you’d discover a plethora of South American possums, which is just the neatest thing! Here in our very own part of the world is a pretty nice assortment of marsupial amazement! There are a variety of “mouse” possums, for instance. As you might imagine, they are rather diminutive in size and are also equipped with a prehensile tail. Mouse possums are as far north as Mexico, so you wouldn’t have to go so far to see them. Of course, I have no idea how common any of these possums are, or if they are nocturnal or not. I have a source of information on possums that has a page with all of the possums from the southern hemisphere pictured on one page. They all seem to bear some resemblance to each other, with that narrow snout and sharp teeth. But they sure do come in a lot of different sizes. For a little bit of possum just to dress up a casual outfit, I think my sterling silver possum earrings would be quite suitable!
