Description: Koalas are, of course, native to Australia. Their populations can build up in some areas to very high levels, which must be doubly painful to them since they really don’t enjoy spending time together. When there are koalas on offshore islands, they have to be carefully managed so the koalas don’t eat themselves out of house and home. The tough thing is that the available area for them is shrinking as people continue to build new homes and businesses.
There have been a number of names for the koala bear. Sometimes it’s referred to as the Australian teddy bear. Some more interesting names for it are bangaroo, koolewong, narnagoon, buidelbeer, native bear, colo and koala wombat. There are probably even more.
It’s only about 2 feet tall and it weighs just about 30 pounds, give or take. It has two different kinds of pouches. The brood pouch for its young and a couple of cheek pouches for storing food. The pouch for the baby opens backwards. I have a hard time getting a concept of that, especially since the koala bear is normally in an upright position! How does she keep the baby from falling out?
These cute sterling silver koala earrings would be perfect for the koala lover that likes her earrings in the dangling style. Or you could consider dangling sterling silver monkey earrings and look over the sterling silver wildlife earrings home as well.
