Description: Humans have long been fascinated by this simian relative of our own human body type. Personally, I think having a somewhat similar body doesn’t necessarily mean we are spiritually close, but that is another matter!
Primate species are good at sharing the resources of a forest by splitting up the environment somewhat. For instance, in some areas the upper canopy might be inhabited by a primate that lives primarily on insects and he shares that same region with a vegetarian monkey. That way there’s no competition for food. This same idea is continued throughout other parts of the jungle environment. Amazing and pretty darn smart, if you ask me!
Dental characteristics are used a lot in placing primates in one group or another. For instance, Old World monkeys have special adaptations in their teeth that are totally different from that of their New World relatives. There seem to be a lot of obvious difference between the species, but scientists seem to be fascinated by teeth and I think that’s how they can tell the differences when things get pretty close otherwise.
I’m not a scientist, and I just try to make things that are fun to wear, whether or not they are completely, scientifically and anatomically perfect. In other words, I do my best!
Live a little! Hang these clever little sterling silver monkeys in your ears and have fun. Variations are the sitting sterling silver monkey design or other pieces from the silver wildlife earrings home.
