Description: I know quite a few veterinarians. One for one they’ve told me that they love working with these gentle little rodents. Guinea pig owners have told me that guinea pigs make a humming noise when they’re feeling good. How irresistible! Guinea pigs are rated highly as pets for either invalids or children. They are fairly easy to care for and even when roughly handled, they won’t bite. They are such gentle and little rodents, what’s not to love? Most people know that guinea pigs do not, in fact come from New Guinea or any kind of Guinea, for that mattr. They are descended from the South American cavy, which was first domesticated by the Incas in Peru. They are not pigs, either. Where that part of their name came from is anyone’s guess. They do make a charming little grunting sound when they’re hungry, so perhaps that’s the origin of the term. I believe that a guinea pig lover would have a lot of fun wearing these silver guinea pig earrings. The only drawback is that she can’t wear them and see them at the same time!
