Ah, how cute to dangle a sterling silver small pet earring from your ear! There is really something fabulously appealing about those small and furry pets we keep. Innocent and trusting creatures who love to play, they would probably play all day if they didn’t need to eat so often. I don’t suppose this would count as a pet, but once when I was exhibiting at an art show in San Jose, California, another artist came up to me with a tiny baby squirrel in her hand. She had contacted a squirrel rescue group of some sort to come and get this little one who had managed to fall from his nest unharmed. I’d never seen a squirrel that tiny and I hope he made it! If I had the time I imagine I’d have all sorts of pets about the place. I bet my grand daughter would appreciate a playful ferret or guinea pig. She has a tabby cat at her house so I don’t imagine a small pet would be too welcome there. I remember when gerbils were the popular small pet to have, but I don’t hear too much about them anymore. Somewhere along the way I picked up the information that they were native to the desert somewhere in Africa. That seems like quite a transition to make; African desert to suburban Illinois! My silver earring gifts currently include quite a number of small animal species! People who enjoy these often like to see my silver bird earring designs, also. |
