Description: There are a lot of cool looking chameleons. I like this one I just found a picture of called a jewel chameleon. It was discovered over 100 years ago by a French naturalist with the very French name of Guillaume Grandidier. Now I think all chameleons are rather jewel like, absolutely gorgeous lizards. This particular one has a base color of brown or green and it has spots in red and green with creamy stripes running the length of his body. The spots are all very distinct, not like the little beaded looking bits of color that you see on most chameleons. The pregnant females, interestingly enough, have the brightest colors of the two sexes. It’s thought she is so colorful to warn away males who might bother her when all she wants to do is put up her feet and eat a bowl of pickles and ice cream. The reptile version of the headache.
