There are women who would find the idea of wearing reptile earrings just weirder than weird. Personally, I think reptiles are among the most glorious of earth’s creatures and I can’t get enough of them! Even though I adore cats, if I had a choice between watching a show about reptiles or one about domestic cats the reptile one would probably win out!
I think one of the reasons I find them so interesting is the variety of shapes, colors and habits they possess. Some so gloriously patterned, textured and colored it seems they were designed by an artist with a real eye for whimsy. That observation may not be too far off base.
Last fall I was taking a walk with Ada, my grand daughter and we came across a legless lizard, unfortunately deceased. But I’d only seen photos of them before and was quite excited about the discovery. For days afterwards this little two year old brought up the subject of the “Legless Lizard” for discussion. A grand daughter after her grammy’s heart.
Another delight around here are the geckos that wiggle their way up the walls and across ceilings, very different than all the other lizards. If you don’t watch them quickly they are gone and you are only left with an impression of having possibly seen a gecko.
Don’t expect any legless lizard earrings anytime soon, but I do have plans for some snake earrings and other surprises in the sterling silver reptile earring category.
