Description: I figure that if you can’t see the humor in things then life just isn’t as much fun as it could be. Don’t you agree? I’m overwhelmed by the number of horse breeds that there are. To me some of the most fascinating ones are the ones that hearken back to an earlier time. Like the Northlands pony, for instance. This is a very old breed that came from Norway, but probably descends from the Asiatic Wild Horse and the Tarpan. This horse almost became extinct after the First World War, when an effort was made to increase their numbers -but less than 30 years later there were still only 43 of these ponies left. They are hardy ponies, and quite docile. It is said that they make a good pony for children. They look a lot like the Asiatic wild horse to me, but it seems like their temperament is more like the modern horse.  They still are being intensively bred to increase their numbers.
