Description: These are medium sized earrings and not terribly heavy, so they could be worn comfortably all day by most women. You might want to get the sterling sheltie pendant to go with the dangle earrings. I think sets are a nice idea and I design all my work with that in mind. But even if you just settle on the silver sheltie earrings, I think you and the recipient will both be pleased. (It’s ok if that’s one and the same person.) It’s possible the sheltie is descended from the Rough Collie of Scotland. It’s equally possible the ancestor was the Yakki, a dog from Iceland that whalers brought to the Shetlands. An early name for the Sheltie was the “Toonie” which is a word from Norway that means farm. In 1909 it was recognized as the Shetland Collie. In 1914, the year before my mom was born (this has nothing to do with anything) the Sheltie was given the present name of Shetland Sheepdog. Of course now everyone calls it the Sheltie, but I think I should start a movement to call it the Toonie because that’s even cuter. Other favorites are silver Corgi earrings and their friends at dog earrings in sterling silver. I really hope you enjoy my version of the sterling silver sheltie earrings.
