Description: I was just reading about the popularity of the miniature poodle in the 1950s. Of course! Otherwise why would the poodle skirt ever have existed! I was too young in the 50s to have one, but my sister Holly had a beautiful version. I believe it was black with a hot pink poodle that had a sequined collar. Oddly enough, I don’t think any of my friends owned poodles then. Of course, perhaps we just didn’t live in a poodle kind of neighborhood. We were more of a beagle and basset hound neighborhood, except for my family. We always had to be different so we had a dalmation. Miniature poodles had a good reputation for being fun loving dogs that were yet quite civilized and were neither too big nor too small. The miniature poodle is actually a direct descendent of the standard poodle. Next step was breeding down the miniature poodle to the toy poodle. And isn’t there an even smaller version known as the teacup? Where will it all end? Maybe we should pay some attention to the Dr. Seuss book called Horton hears a Who. I’m happy with these sterling silver poodle earrings for the time being, with more designs up my sleeve for later!
