Description: I handcrafted these doxies to give them a rich and detailed look. (As well as a bit of personality, which is a characteristic I always strive for in my jewelry.) In an old British book about the breed, the author who used the pen name of Wildflower described the dachshund as being a dog with the “head of a bloodhound, the ears long and pendulous, the forelegs being large for the size of the dog and also being crooked, turned out at the elbows and the knees, and the feet being large and splayed out.” This is paraphrased a bit, but you get the idea. This sounds absolutely nothing like the modern dachshund, and more like the bloodhound than anything! This information is not related to anything- I just found it kind of interesting. One of the characteristics of the long haired dachshunds is that the dogs are not supposed to look flat-sided, but there should be a fullness of the fur over the ribs. There are other characteristics of the long haired dachshunds that are just peculiar to them. Some people enjoy a nice dog jewelry set- so with that in mind I crafted a beautiful long-haired dachshund pin (as well as a pendant) that can be worn with these earrings.
