Description: The French ear wires are sterling silver Emperor penguins come up to a man’s waist, and can weigh up to 100 pounds! I guess birds that don’t fly in the air don’t have to be so light. The thing I like about the Emperor penguins is that gorgeous patch of orange on the side of their head. Apparently this is considered very attractive stuff by the female penguins, because the male flashes his ear patch to his intended when they’re courting. I must have a little penguin in me. This breed of penguin is usually around the coasts and seas of Antarctica, but in the summer they are sometimes spotted in the southern tip of South America. They are surviving well, despite they’re harsh breeding conditions. In fact, there are at least 20 rookeries that are flourishing. Penguins are squid hunters, and they swallow a lot of sea water when they fish. They eliminate the excess salt from tear glands that are specially enlarged for this purpose. They have another interesting body part that helps them catch those slippery meals. The inside of the mouth and tongue has a covering of fleshy knobs that prevent the fish or squid from escaping once it’s caught. Sterling silver penguin earrings may not be something you see every day, but you could see them a lot more if you owned a pair! That actually applies to all my silver bird earring designs including my silver Bald Eagle earrings. |
