Bat CharmOur Price: $29.00 Summary: A pretty sterling silver bat charm? Of course! Bats are graceful animals that fill a niche on this planet that would go sadly unfilled without them. |

Description: Bats are divided into two basic groups. There are the microchiropterans and the megachiropterans. The ones in the first group are the smaller bats. The 2nd group includes the flying foxes that some people find more attractive with their big eyes and small ears. And the little ones do have some odd looking members. Well, actually all of them are pretty odd looking. They weren’t built for beauty, at least in the eyes of us humans. But every weird skin flap and nasty looking face is there for a good reason. Besides, as long as they look good to their own kind and continue to make babies, what business is it of ours? Most bats only have one baby per year. Often the birth takes place in a nursery where as many as a million females and their young are hanging from the top of the cave, tunnel or whatever it is they live in. The baby clings to the mother bat and sometimes goes with her when she hunts, just hanging on for dear life. Sometimes they are left in the nursery while the mother bat goes hunting, cuddled up with a lot of other little bats to deep warm. In anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks the baby starts to fly. This sterling silver bat charm is unusual, that’s for sure! And wearing it on your charm bracelet is another great way to inform people of the importance of bats. I have a variety of animals in the sterling silver wildlife charm gifts section such as my silver raccoon charm. |
