Some people might be alarmed by the concept of a sterling silver reptile charm, but I think these animals are exquisitely beautiful and endlessly fascinating! I want to add more to the collection and plan on making time to design more reptiles in the future. They are one of my favorites from the silver charms page.
I think snakes are especially gorgeous animals. We have one here in the Tampa Bay area called the black racer snake. There was one in my front yard a couple of weeks ago, a big one probably four feet long! This snake was once misidentified by a friend (whose name I will not mention) as a black mamba which he had decided must have escaped its owner and come to live under his house. I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry when a very poisonous snake is in question.
The only reptiles that I know of native to my Ohio home were turtles and snakes. We did see a lot of grass green snakes in the hedge in front of our house, as well as garden snakes.
Many years ago my husband, daughter and I went to a facility in Florida that took in injured wildlife to rehabilitate and return to their environment. One of the animals that they showed us was a black racer snake, which languidly draped over the arm of the young woman talking about him. We were allowed to pet him later, a wonderful texture I find hard to describe - something like cold, living metal - a far cry from warm soft fur found in my silver small pet animal charms!
