I have several sterling silver horse charms and horse related charms in my jewelry line these days. I think horsewomen are a special breed, and I’d love to get some feedback on my designs. A totally equine charm bracelet is one idea but, of course, you can always mix in a few favorite dogs or other animal charms, even some silver marine animal charms. My sister Holly was the horsewoman growing up in our family. In my imagination I pictured her as a rider, but the truth is that she loved horses but never had riding lessons as a child. In fact just a few years ago, with one child left in the nest she took up riding and even had her own horse. I was touched and proud of her persistence in following that dream.
My only experience riding was on the dusty brown back of a sweet old horse owned by a friend of mine in Athens, Ohio. It was a thrilling, that little taste of being a rider, and raised my awareness of how fun it must be to ride for real.
Not too long ago one of my veterinarian customers asked me to design a horse hoof print, telling me that many horse owners who have had a deep attachment to a horse would appreciate it. It was surprisingly one of the most difficult designs to create, but I think it makes a wonderful little sterling silver horse related charm. |
