Description: The Westie will get along well with children although some people think that they do better in a home without kids. They do get very close to their family, and if a new or challenging situation arises, the Westie likes to have the closeness of the family nearby for reassurance. The westie will be fine with people it’s not accustomed to once the sniffing over period has passed. The “stranger” just has to be a little patient until the furry white family member has given his special seal of approval Maybe the little dog is just intelligent enough to know that the family it trusts will not let someone into the vicinity that could be dangerous to it or the rest of the “pack.” The little white dog must be combed everyday, but it doesn’t have to be a major production and could even be a nice bonding time for dog and owner. I always thought the West Highland white terrier was an especially happy little character and I tried to capture his merry spirit in this design. For any cairn terrier lovers out there, you might agree with some of my customers that this design could double as a cairn terrier charm.
