Description: The poodle is an extremely intelligent dog that was originally trained as a gundog! Because of its extreme intelligence and interest in pleasing its owners, it eventually ended up in show business, as in the circus. The standard poodle has no certain place of origin, despite the name French poodle. It’s said that different countries produced different color variations of the dog. Supposedly France produced the white one, Germany the brown and Russia the black poodle. There’s a painting from the 16th century that shows a parti-colored poodle, which is quite rare today. Poodle color choices now include cream, apricot, silver, blue champagne and some others. Of course the first 3 colors named are still popular. For a couple of years I attended (as a jewelry exhibitor) some professional Dog Groomer trade shows. One of the more interesting things about this universe of groomers, is that they had a contest for the most creative groomer. I saw some pretty unusual dye and grooming jobs on unsuspecting poodles, and that is no lie! How about a poodle dyed and cut to look exactly like a carousel horse. Hard to picture?
